Graffiti Taggers in Seattle Allegedly Shoot at Innocent Driver
Emphasis on "taggers" over "shooters" is frustrating.

At a time when the extreme Left in Washington State is attempting to legislate a softening of current gun laws (HB 1178) that are effective against armed criminals, while strengthening laws (listed below) that primarily affect good gun owners, criminal justice officials continue to sneer at existing gun laws that are effective at reducing criminal violence with guns.

As reported by KIRO 7 News, in downtown Seattle, on Friday, February 8th, at about 11:00 p.m., a driver on the N/B off ramp from I-5 at S. Dearborn St., called the Washington State Patrol (WSP) to report someone had just shot at him as he was driving in his car.
Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers and WSP troopers arrived and conducted an area search for the suspects. SPD soon located and arrested three male suspects who were allegedly in possession of two firearms and a bucket of spray paint cans. Police transported and booked the suspects into the King County Jail for firearms offenses.
Demonstrating the camaraderie among law enforcement agencies, KIRO included this kind quote from the WSP, “The Washington State Patrol would like to thank the Seattle Police Officers for the quick response and flawless communication that resulted in apprehending the suspects involved in this crime.”
But this is where the story takes a sharp left. Please remember that these three “taggers” weren’t just kids spraying graffiti on public or private property. The suspects were males, ages 24, 28, and 33.
They allegedly fired a gun at a driver who, thankfully, was not injured. Unsurprisingly, the media insisted on referring to the suspects as “taggers” rather than shooters. Which crime would you consider to be more serious?
At MyNorthwest.com’s Crime Blotter, Frank Sumrall wrote, “Two graffiti taggers have already been released after they each posted a $1,000 bail, as reported by KOMO News Monday.” That means the suspects only had to post $100 each.
On the Commute with Carlson on KVI Radio 570 (Timestamp: 47:40), John Carlson also recounted the incident. He was appalled that two of the suspects were released on such low bail less than 24 hours after being involved in an alleged firearms-related crime. The remaining suspect was given $75,000 bail, but I found no further information as to any release.
I’m guessing either the third suspect confessed to being the shooter, or the other two men turned on the third, which justified reducing the charges on the other two suspects.
Either way, among other ugly traits, this state is infamous for three regrettable things: A left-biased mainstream media, a cop-hating/good-guy-with-gun-hating leftist-dominated state legislature, and leftist state and local blue jurisdiction woke criminal justice systems.
All three factions have shown their support for so-called “common sense gun laws” and ostensibly for reducing “gun violence,” while working towards the opposite. They are making gun crimes easier for criminals to commit and making guns harder for good guys to own and carry.
All three institutions mentioned only support the kinds of gun laws that infringe on the Second Amendment and primarily affect normally law-abiding gun owners.
Above, I mentioned the pro-criminal legislation that reduces the penalties for “gun crimes” with things like decreasing or eliminating enhancements enforced against a suspect who is convicted of having used a gun to commit a crime.
As far as the mainstream media goes, though the KOMO reporter was commenting on a story whose primary topic was suspects firing guns at a victim, the reporter said, “This latest incident comes as local authorities are trying to crack down on graffiti taggers.”
Excuse me? Talk about burying the lede. How about we crack down on people shooting at innocent drivers?
This triad should stop pretending this legislation will reduce criminals committing crimes with firearms (but they won’t). Every time a leftist entity refuses to treat armed criminals with the severity they deserve (especially when compared to their nasty treatment of ordinary gun owners), it becomes more evident to the public that the leftist legislators, court system officials, and mainstream media hacks aren’t interested in public safety—just disarming you.
They’re only interested in accumulating and preserving political power, which requires a weak population.
Sadly, unlike most American voters, enough Washington/Seattle voters continue to elect these leftist loons, not necessarily because they like them, but because the Left has been so damned successful making voters more afraid of a Republican myth than of the Democrat reality. A lack of trust in Washington’s election system, especially by conservatives, doesn’t help.
To punctuate the point, here are a couple of topics former Seattle news reporter and current “unDivided” podcaster Brandi Kruse commented on recently.
She mentioned that our loser governor, Democrat Bob Ferguson, has not been making himself as available to the press as he apparently wanted them to believe before he was elected. The Seattle Times reported, “In a departure for WA governors, Ferguson avoids news conferences.
Kruse also noted The Seattle Times is complaining about it. However, she shows little sympathy for the left-wing paper that endorsed him for that office and now apparently regrets it.
As she also mentions, Washington State is an outlier in the United States among others like California, Massachusetts, New York, and other states to various degrees. Well, here’s a quote attributed to economist Herb Stein. “If something can’t go on forever, it won’t.”
Well, that sure was true, thank God, for the corrupt FJB federal government. Let’s hope it’s also true for corrupt state governments.
It may take people in a state controlled by the collectivist cabal of Western Washington longer than the rest of America. But there’s a critical question lingering that most American voters answered “yes” to on November 5th, 2024. “Is it bad enough yet.” Another question is how much longer will it linger before Washington voters are finally fed up?
